Part 268s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – Indenture Research – 1829 James Smith - Property

24 April 2010

Morning,

The Transcription Project is continuing, and continuing, and continuing… and I swear the “legalese” just seems so much like added words written in as filler, but then again I’m not a lawyer. But I’m certainly learning quick and easy short-cuts on how to copy and paste in Word, the continued repetitions of phrases.

This next Record, I believe is another “Peppercorn Transaction”. James Smith, the Carpenter, and possibly ggg-grandfather James Smith purchases another lot and parcel of land in what appears to be on the waterfront of the Carenage in the Town of Saint George, Grenada. And again there does not seem to be any reference to ggg-grandfather James’ genealogy and ancestry.

Here are the pages 718 and 719 of the Document from the Grenada Registers of Records 1825-1834 (v. H5-O5), downloaded from Item 3 of the microfilm FHL [1563380].

And I continue. I believe the next Record that I am working on, pages 719 through and including 723 is in reference to this Record dated 30 March 1829.

The following Postings are some of the Indentures of Sale and Lease that I believe all relate to the same James Smith, the Carpenter and possibly ggg-grandfather James. These include: Parts 258s; 262s; 263s; 266s; and 267s.

Enjoy,

Jim
